Fundamentals of Structural Mechanics I, II

The subject gives basic concepts of strength of materials and methods of calculations of building constructions.
The course is divided into two parts:
The first one is conducted in the winter semester and comprises: presentation of basic construction models in flat
and 3-dimensional constructions; description and calculation of section forces in bars; ways of application of loads on constructions; description of statically determinable and indeterminable (hyperstatic) systems.
The second part is conducted in the summer semester and comprises more advanced methods of calculations of building constructions: calculation of thin plates and application of Finite Element Method for simple bar constructions.
